Hi all

I just wondered if I could get your view on the following…

I think my employer is going to change my role as some actions over the past few weeks have indicated. I supervise part of a production line and have ‘heard’ that a significant part of my role (rectification 60%) is going to be given to another Supervisor. It will leave my role fairly redundant as I will have 2 Members and very little work, so much so that I don’t think it warrants a Supervisor.

Our Customer Service team is growing (Technicians) and I have also heard that they are looking to move me into this sort of role (no more pay and longer hours). I think they are trying to make the best of the resource they have by moving it around.

I really like my role at the minute and enjoy the rectification aspects but they dont seem to be giving me a choice. I feel like they are making my role redundant and not even bothering to talk to me about it. They are even excluding me from production meetings now.

Realisticly I can’t do the Technician job as I have a young daughter so can’t accomodate being away from home a lot (the job involves going overseas regularly).

What should I do?

If they make me change my role is there anything I can do?
