Stay Interview definition

Stay interviews form part of talent retention strategies and are barometers to judge an employee’s current feelings towards a job. If there is any negativity, employers can then take action to reduce the chance of an employee leaving.

Stay interviews are similar to exit interviews but exit interviews take place once an employee has handed in their notice. In this case the company is attempting to learn why the employee left so they can take action to prevent others leaving, while stay interviews are designed to help prevent the individual employees, and others, leaving.
