Queen Bee Syndrome definition

Queen Bee syndrome refers to women in authority or power who treat subordinate females worse than males purely because of their gender. The theory has a lot of academic support and was first documented by T.E Jayarante, C. Tavris and G.L. Staines in 1973. Another academic study theorised that Queen Bee syndrome may be why women typically find it more stressful to work for female bosses than for male bosses.

Another definition of Queen Bee syndrome describes a woman who has personal and professional success but who refuses to share knowledge and tips with other women to help them achieve their own success.
