Fair Representation definition

A United States principle that labour unions, when they represent bargaining parties exclusively, must represent all members in good faith, and to the same degree. Fair representation was borne out of racial discrimination by railway workers’ unions in 1940s America – following this the principle was officially recognised by the United States Supreme Court. The principle is often called the duty of fair representation.
