Tania has been working with Consensio since its inception, as a mediator, trainer and writer. Currently her work with Consensio focuses on writing articles and researching new ways to think and act in the face of conflict. Tania’s approach to conflict management draws on a career that spans management consultancy and the performing arts. She discovered mediation in 2003, and has since built her practice as a workplace, commercial and community mediator. Now based in Tokyo, she runs mediation and conflict-management workshops in Europe and in Asia. She has accreditations from Mediation UK, CEDR and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
I agree - the wider the range of options available to people in conflict, the better. In fact one of the things we tend to lose sight of when in conflict is the fact that we do have options. We tend to feel cornered, stuck, helpless. HR can play an invaluable role in showing people they do have choices - from the informal chat, to mediation, formal processes, and best of all conflict management training, to help people build the skills to prevent and manage their own and other people's conflicts.
