My answers
I agree - the wider the range of options available to people in conflict, the better. In fact one of the things we tend to lose sight of when in conflict is the fact that we do have options. We tend to feel cornered, stuck, helpless. HR can play an invaluable role in showing people they do have choices - from the informal chat, to mediation, formal processes, and best of all conflict management training, to help people build the skills to prevent and manage their own and other people's conflicts.
