News: Microsoft’s Yammer enables HR to monitor staff emotions

978487_80152228

Microsoft’s Yammer has teamed up with emotion analysis company, Kanjoya, to enable employers to monitor staff attitudes based on their enterprise social network posts.

Kanjoya’s Crane analytics dashboard communicates with Yammer in order to retrieve information from Yammer groups and other communications made over the company network to enable organisations to gauge employee emotions.

The dashboard includes a sentiment graph, keyword search capability, word cloud and influencer analysis tool.

Jim Patterson, Yammer’s platform director, said: “By enabling this integration, Yammer customers will be able to recognize when something has affected employees either positively or negatively – and take action.”

As to how the offering will work, if HR directors announce a change to company health benefits, for instance, they can look at the analytics dashboard to obtain a better insight into their staff reaction, the firm said in a statement.

The functionality is available now for all Yammer Enterprise customers, but they must also purchase an additional Crane license. Microsoft acquired Yammer in June in a deal worth $1.2 billion.

One Response

  1. Complete Control

There is a risk that HR could find itself ‘flip flopping’ to short term mood swings and therefore lose all sense of long term strategy from this.

By all means stay in touch, but hold the course steady if you are not to be trapped in a constant ‘mood adjustment’ cycle.
