TUC welcomes requirements on employers to prove they have not discriminated

pp_default1

People discriminated at work because of their gender will have new rights at Employment Tribunals from today (Friday).

The new rules mean employers will have to prove they have not discriminated.

Up to now employees have had to prove discrimination.

TUC General Secretary, John Monks said:

“This is a welcome move. Once again employees have gained new rights from Europe.

“However, we think the practical impact will be relatively modest. Other measures are needed such as statutory pay audits if we are to make a real impact on the pay gap and other issues.”
