Consultation on equality and parental leave

The Department of Trade and Industry have posted the following consultation papers on their website:

Department of Trade and Industry, Employment & Equality: The DTI Race Equality Scheme. The consultation closes on 20 September 2002

The DTI Race Equality Scheme: Published for consultation, the Scheme sets out how the Department intends to meet its statutory obligations to promote race equality under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000. The Scheme also seeks views on the Department’s classifications of its policies in terms of their impact on race equality. The consultation closes on 20 September 2002. See it here



Department of Trade and Industry, Employment & Equality: Maternity and parental leave, and paternity and adoption leave and pay: consultation on draft regulations. The consultation closes on 19th July 2002.

The Government intends to make changes to the regulations which govern maternity and parental leave and to introduce regulations on the new rights to paternity and adoption leave and pay. The new regulations will include improvements to existing maternity leave rights and set out the fine detail of how the new rights to paid time-off for fathers and adoptive parents will operate. Subject to Parliamentary approval, it is expected that the new rights will be fully introduced from April 2003.
