Great Place to Work® announces the UK’s first ranking of the best IT companies to work for

London, 17th October 2017


Great Place to Work®, a research consultancy specialising in workplace cultures, today announced the publication of the first ranking of the best IT organisations to work for in the UK.

Drawn from the UK’s Best Workplaces™ ranking, the 31 organisations on the UK’s Best Workplaces™ in IT list range from large organisations such as Salesforce, Adobe and Cisco to small consultancies such as Foundation SP, World Wide Technology and Computer Task Group. Regardless of size, what they all have in common is an engaged workforce motivated and committed to delivering the organisation’s goals and where innovation, critical to the IT sector, is encouraged and rewarded through a range of initiatives.

Not only does the IT sector face issues common to many other sectors such as the recruitment and retention of talent, it faces its own challenges, including the difficulty in attracting women – only 25% of the workforce are women compared to the national average of 47% - and the constant need for innovation.  What these 31 organisations show is that with the right approach – developing a culture that’s right for them and investing in their people, they are better placed to withstand and thrive in the face of those challenges.

The results are quantifiable too, as our recent report into the IT sector shows:

  • 74% of IT Best Workplaces showed a profit in the latest fiscal period, compared to just 50% of organisations across all sectors who weren’t ranked as a Best Workplace™

The report also shows examples of what the best-in-class IT organisations are doing to address the challenges of recruiting more women and fostering and maintaining a culture of innovation – practices that any sector can learn from.
