What's the main reason HR professionals decide to recruit employees themselves?

Why do HR professionals choose not to outsource?

What's the main reason HR professionals decide to recruit employees themselves rather than outsourcing it to external recruitment agencies?

In my experience, (particularly related to volume recruitment), agencies haven't listened to the requirements. I used to recruit for an Admin centre and I used to ask candidates, what have the agency told you about the job and they all, without fail, said we've been told that it's a contact centre. Even when we reiterated a number of times that we weren't a contact centre, the candidates still said they had been told it was a contact cemtre. This was hugely frustrating.

Thanks clive. so would that stop you using all recruitment companies or was it a gripe with certain ones?
Did price/costs come into it at all?

Hi mattd; it's a moot point really as I don't work in resourcing now. However, I had a pretty poor experience of agencies in general. In my opinion; recruitment agencies need to look at the new rules of consumerism where the experience is the most important thing to the customer. Price is important but not as important as the way one is treated.

In the case of places where I've worked in the past - there has always been a big focus on employee referrals rather than outsourcing recruitment; not only does the process tend to be a bit quicker but employees can talk a lot more about the company, team and role itself than a recruitment agency would be able to, with the addition that they're explaining it to a friend so there's an additional level of trust. I guess for HR it's also more cost effective!
