Whilst off work sick , what are the parameters relating to what you can and cannot do - an employee,( british) is off work , possibly long term , has a rental place in the UK , works here fulltime for many years , over 35 years, has a house abroad and needs for many reasons to go back and forth , one reason is that it is selling, so it is essential for the house`s up- keep, etc that being on site fairly regularly - maybe once a month is essential. I have to stress that these are not holidays abroad - they never usually are and especially not with a potential sale brewing. The question is - what is the legal position for an employee off work sick , in the UK- to, basically , travel out of the country- misterbee.

Hi. I am a UK based HR professional. To my knowledge, there are no restrictions on any employee doing anything while they are on sick leave. They are sick they are sick. I would be more curious about why they were so sick they cannot come to work, yet can get on a flight to another location? Just a point of discussion I would suggest. However there is nothing you "can do" about it other than have an adult conversation about whether this can continue. Hope this helps. L
