We have an employee who has been signed off of work, due to personal reasons they wish to resign. They originally asked if they resign with their two weeks notice, can they be paid the full amount of their SSP which the date on the certificate is valid after they officially leave. We have advised them that the company would not pay them past their final day of notice as they would no longer be working for us. The employee has put it in writing that they plan to resign but will hold off sending in their resignation until their notice covers their SSP. Is there anything the company can do? The employee has made it very clear they have every intention to leave the company and is wanting to get as much money out of us as they possibly can during the process. At least they are honest with what they intend to do.
