A friend of mine was recently absent from work due to work related stress.She tells me that many things can contribute to the stress but the final straw was the IT system continually crashing no body took notice of her complaints and concerns the finance manager told her she was paranoid and was then very rude to her she told her line manager that she couldnt work anymore that day as she was too upset and left work 30 minutes early with the line manager holding the door open for her as she left. he later rang her at home to see if she was alright. She was signed off for over 6 weeks and returned to work 2 weeks ago to find that the IT system has been repaired. this week she was told to attend a disciplinary meeting for unauthorised absence from before, during the meeting, without any adjournment or consideration of mitigation, she was given a verbal warning for walking out. I feel this is wrong but wondered how others saw this. she was also accused that her race was the reason why she gets herself stressed! we wrote a grievance and the MD brushed this over any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
