we have announce a redundancy, and are about to start formal consultation. Despite rearranging the first consultation meeting several times due to the availability of their representative, they are now saying that they are unable to attend as they are suffering from anxiety about the situation.
Whilst I’m concerned, and appreciate that these situations are stressful, I can’t expect anyone to feel any differntly? Surely the whole point of a representative is to support the individual and to allow us to deal with it via them if the member of staff is not strong enough?
I want to go back to them and say that whilst I am concerned for their welfare, that the consultation must go ahead as I can’t delay it.
any thoughts?
thank you in advance.
