I have a employee who telephone me to let me know that he intended to have time off to care for his children because his wife was going into hospital. I informed him of company policy being 2 to 3 days to make arrangements for childcare. He stated that he intended to care for them himself until his wife is recovered and did not know how long it would take. I suggested taking parental leave which is unpaid. I have since received a self certified sick note from this employee for “stress because his wife is having a major operation” and am not sure how to deal with this. Any help please?
