I have been signed off for 2 weeks with stress , due to work. I had been suffering insomnia, panic attacks, short temper, sudden bursts of crying etc. I have been employed with my company for 3.5 years and have never taken a sick day until this point. Unfortunately, during the 2 weeks i have been off work, it was my best friends wedding, and I was maid of honour. I obviously went. I posted pictures on facebook (stupid i know, but it was a lovely day and took my mind off work for the weekend)

my area manager called me 3 days later asking if i would be back in work on Monday. that she had seen my Facebook page and the photos, and if i am not well enough to attend work how could i attend a wedding? I had asked her at the beginning of my leave what the companies policy is on sick pay. she informed me that HR would need to discuss it with me on my return. The doctor informed me that getting out of the house and doing things that would take my mind of work is encouraged. Could someone help me as I feel I don't know where i stand if they only pay me SSP and not full pay. The company policy states that it is at the company's discretion for pay for sickness. The situation has not helped my stress levels. Was this call appropriate from my area manager whilst i have been signed off for stress? If i only get SSP can i appeal?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
