Does anyone have advice please or links to organisations or resources that are able to provide interactive CPD/training for HR professionals (ie. non-union members), to learn about and understand Trade Union activities and involvement within the private sector?

By that, I mean an understanding and expansion on processes such as Collective Bargaining, Union Learning Reps, Relations between Employees, Management and Trade Unions, etc.

Trade Unions themselves appear to be a ‘closed shop’. Following my own research they are retiscent to offer a particularly ‘pro-active’ or ‘supportive’ resource, to develop what potentially could ensure a move toward ‘more harmonious workplaces’.

This wasnt particularly a suprise to me, more of a dissapointment at the general stagnation and skin deep approach of todays ‘modern’ unions. ‘Them and us’ – a real shame when a more positive approach could engender more creative ways of supporting both employee and business development.

Many thanks.
