A friend of mine took extended maternity leave of 52 weeks.

At 26 weeks her maternity pay stopped, she was due to receive a bonus in the following weeks too and now finds that because she took the extended leave, that she will not be getting the bonus either.

Would someone confirm whether this is correct for the employer to do this? i thought that all benefits continued whilst on maternity extended or not.
