My employer may be making a change in the hours of work for all staff including me.

My query is that I currently have a flexible working agreement for 34.5 hours instead of 38.5 because I have a young daughter (11 months) and needed the change in hours to accomodate our childcare arrangements. I work 4.5 days a week (Friday afternoons off).

I think the proposal may be to increase the working week to 39.5 hours. Working 8.30am – 4.30pm (Mon – Thurs) and 8.30am – 3.30pm Friday. The Mon – Thurs would be ok but I would really struggle to make childcare arrangements for the Friday afternoon.

Can my employer impose these changes on me?

What do I do if I refuse to sign up to working Friday afternoons?

Thanks
Sarah
