The hotel I work for compelled employees to take days off over the Christmas and New Years period by putting staff off as Bank Holiday days and are now saying that the staff are not being paid for these days off as they are classified as days of unpaid leave. We have been told the only way we can be paid for these days is if it comes off of our holiday allowance. What is our position regarding this, is this not unfair labour practice as we are hourly paid and were compelled by our employer to do less than our contracted hours and we are now not being paid for the hours we are short of our contracted hours.
