Our employee has been invited to two formal review meetings and failed to attend either and has since been called
to a disciplinary meeting on the basis of failing to meet targets set by his
line manager. The disciplinary hearing has been re-scheduled for a third time tomorrow at 4pm but we have
noticed that the employee has just booked a client appointment for 3.30pm
– drive back to office is at leat 20 mins. What is our next step? We have
already postponed to allow him to find
Trade Union representation and feel we
have been reasonable regarding the
approach we have taken to re-scheduling. We do not wish to delay any longer but are concerned that he will use the fact of the client visit to his advantage as it is his performance and lack of client visits/calls that is one of the main issues. The issue was primarily a
performance issue but is rapidly becoming a conduct issue. Any advice
greatly appreciated.
