My son has been on long term sick leave for nearly 5 years and has a disability. His employer is paying 50% of his salary to him from a permanent health insurance scheme they have. The scheme givs  a 1% annual increase to the benefit which the company receives form the insurer, but the company has never given this to him, citing a company pay frieze due to recession as the reason. Though they are now giving some staff an increase due to performance.

Should my son have received some of this increase. it seems unfair that he is being discriminated against due to his disability especially as some staff are now receiving increases, and also that the increase is coming from the insurer not the employer. Please can anyone help as to what we should do?
