The salary is the third most important / searched criteria in any job advert and not advertising it can lead to disastrous consequences to your recruitment campaign.

Here are just some of the affects it can have:

  • On average your response is reduced by 60% when you don’t advertise a salary
  • Not advertising a salary can also lead to more irrelevant applicants as candidate use the salary to judge the level of the role
  • Your role will appear lower down in search results as roles with salaries will be considered a closer match to the candidate’s criteria…
  • The general assumption that candidates make is if there is no salary on the advert then the salary will be low

I understand that sometimes there can be sensitivities with regards to salaries with in a businesses. If this is the case within your organisation I would suggest the following:

Advertise a salary range. This is just as effective as a definite salary

Consider advertising the role blind and not mentioning the company as this will allow you to include the salary. Removing the company name is less damaging to the job application responses than not advertising a salary
